Looking after each other

‘Looking out for our neighbours’

We can all spread the kindness by looking out for each other and our neighbours. Small gestures make a huge difference. Lots of us are already doing a great job of looking out for each other, but there is still more we can do to make our local areas safer and happier for everyone. Check in with those that might be lonely, vulnerable or isolated. Find out more by visiting: ourneighbours.org.uk

Supporting carers

Many carers are ‘hidden’ and provide the majority of care without formal support. Being a carer can be stressful and have a major impact on your health, relationships, education and employment. Find sources of support below.

Working carers passport

A working carer is someone in full or part-time employment, who also provides unpaid support, or who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their age, physical or mental illness, or disability. Find out more about supporting for carers to remain in work and significant benefits to both carers and their families, businesses and the wider economy. View the working carers passport here

Young carers app
Young carers provide invaluable support to their loved ones. We know that caring can impact on a young person’s health, social life, education, and self-confidence. A Young Carers Support App is free and available to download on both Android and IOS.

Unpaid carers – free West Yorkshire digital resources (DRC)

NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Bradford Council, Calderdale Council, Kirklees Council, Leeds City Council and Wakefield Council have partnered with Carers UK to launch a free Digital Resource for Carers (DRC) platform.

Having the right information at the right time can make a significant difference to carers and those they look after. Developed with the specialist knowledge of national charity Carers UK combined with place-based information, the Digital Resource for Carers provides carers with a wealth of practical, financial and emotional support.

The platform hosts a range of carefully curated resources, e-learning modules, hands-on guides and tools to help carers manage their caring responsibilities and look after themselves.

Carers can simply click on the link below to create a free account to access the resources.
